Dow Hotel Co. Hires Senior VP Of Finance
SEATTLE— Stephen Griffin is the new senior vp of finance
at Dow Hotel Co., LLC in Seattle.
In this newly created position, Griffin will be responsible
for all financial aspects of the company’s investor relations
and acquisitions. He will also now oversee Dow’s proprietary
hotel accounting systems and reporting.
Griffin was previously the CFO of WineBid.com, an Internet-based
wine auction house. His previous real estate experience includes
serving as COO and CFO of Olympic Property Management Co.,
a development and services firm.

Mumford Co. Finishing Off Busy Month Of Dispositions
NEWPORT NEWS, VA— The Mumford Co. has been busy this
past month brokering hotel sales in Missouri, North Carolina,
Virginia and Texas.
In Missouri, the firm represented Accor North America and Motel
6 in their sale of the Motel 6 in Jefferson City. It is the
third hotel Mumford has sold for Accor within the past year.
AMI & PUJA Inc. acquired the hotel and plans on significantly
renovating it.
Also in Missouri, in Springfield, Mumford spoke for affiliates
of Larken, Inc. in their disposition of the 201-room Hawthorn
Park Hotel. The full-service hotel is 21 years old and 10 stories
tall. The undisclosed buyers will now renovate the hotel and
affiliate it with a mid-market national franchise. The sellers
are retiring from the hotel business.
In North Carolina, Mumford sold the Holiday Inn in Winston-Salem
on the behalf of affiliates of Equity Inns, Inc. The undisclosed
buyer will now renovate the hotel and convert it into a Quality
Inn.
Equity Inns also utilized Mumford in its sale of the Hampton
Inn in Richardson, TX. The undisclosed buyer will invest $1
million into the property’s renovations.
Meanwhile, in Williamsburg, VA, Mumford represented COHAH
Associates, LLC in its sale of the Best Western Westpark Hotel.
King James Associates, LLC bought the hotel and will now renovate
it.

Sunburst Hospitality Names New President
SILVER SPRING, MD— Kevin Hanley has been named as president
of Sunburst Hospitality Corp. by the company’s board
of directors. Hanley has also been elected to the board of
directors.
The board of director unanimously approved the promotion of
Hanley, who was previously executive vp at the Silver Spring,
MD-based firm. Sunburst’s CEO, Jim MacCutcheon, recommended
that Hanley be promoted to the position of president.
Along with his new title, the Sunburst board of directors
has given Hanley the empowerment to execute rapid company growth
through real estate acquisitions, development and redevelopment
opportunities.
The Sunburst board has also reorganized the company’s
operating structure through the promotion of several other
company executives and the hiring of two others. As part of
the reorganization, Tom Murphy has been promoted to national
vp of operations and is now responsible for all internal operations
and marketing functions.
Furthermore, Greg Heflin and Chris Milke have been hired by
Sunburst as vps of development. They will be tasked with identifying,
analyzing, negotiating and closing transactions.

La Quinta Opens 31 Hotels In First Half Of 2006
DALLAS— La Quinta has opened 31 hotels in the first half
of 2006 as a result of its aggressive franchising and corporate
development programs.
The hotels are located in 13 states throughout the country
and added more than 3,400 rooms to the La Quinta system. The
company expects rapid growth in the second half of the year
with an active and expanding pipeline of new properties.
The company 's franchise program was responsible for 24 of
the 31 hotels opened in the first half in markets such as
SanDiego, California, and Rapid City, SD.

Orlando's Rosen Centre Renovating Meeting Space
ORLANDO, FL— Rosen Centre in Orlando, FL, expects to
complete a multi-million-dollar renovation that spans the hotel’s
106,000 sf and includes its 35,000-sf Grand Ballroom by the
end of the year.
By late fall, ballrooms, salons and pre-function space will
have contemporary materials and complementary furnishings.
Beginning at the registration desk and continuing throughout
the meeting space and breakout areas, there will be new granite
countertops, light fixtures, plush woven carpeting and other
enhancements.
The Grand and Junior Ballrooms will have new decorative wall
coverings. Alcoves outside the ballrooms and salons are being
redesigned for both conversation and wireless setup. Moveable
air walls complete with ornamental touches will blend with
the upgraded ballroom décor.
The 24-story Rosen Centre features 1,334 guestrooms, six restaurants
and lounges and the Body Sol Spa, a newly renovated fitness
center.
